LAMTA Aqua (Expo) Line

From nycsubway.org

Overview

The Expo Line is Los Angeles's newest (as of 2012) light-rail line. It will run between Downtown Los Angeles at 7th/Metro Center and Santa Monica. It joins the Blue Line light rail near Pico station and uses the same tracks to access the subway station at 7th/Metro Center. The phase 1 segment opened on April 28, 2012. There are two more phase 1 stations, at Farmdale and Culver City, yet to open (projected: late June 2012). The present terminal is La Cienega Station. Phase 2 (from Culver City to Santa Monica) is under construction with a target date of completion in 2016. The Expo Line uses Los Angeles' existing fleet of LRV equipment and both the Nippon Sharyo P865/P2020 and Siemens P2000 LRVs may be seen on the line. At present the Expo Line fleet is based at the Blue Line's yard in Long Beach, but a new yard is planned to be built in Santa Monica as part of phase 2.
